Smith not only edits the collection, but also provides an Introduction: “I invited five, bright, young writers…to write stories of a pornographic nature…In effect, I paid my friends to write about sex for me.” This publication is sandwiched between the publication of her first novel in 2000, White Teeth, for which she won the Guardian First Book Award, the Whitbread First Novel Award, and the James Tait Black Memorial Prize for Fiction, and 2002’s The Autograph Man.
