Four Poetry Editions INSCRIBED to Maxine Kumin and One with TLS to Kumin

Five titles published between 1977-1995, four INSCRIBED to Kumin and one with TLS to Kumin, winner of the Pulitzer Prize and the Ruth Lilly Poetry Prize who was also poet laureate of the United States. Kumin died in 2014.

Beatty, Jan. Mad River. Pittsburgh: University of Pittsburgh Press, 1995. First Edition. Softcover, 63 pp. Near Fine. Yusef Komunyakaa and Dorianne Laux praise. Winner of the 1994 Agnes Lynch Starrett Poetry Prize. Beatty also won the 1990 Pablo Neruda Poetry Prize. Included is a TLS by Beatty to Kumin, with her address and dated 1996, submitting her book to the Nicholas Roerich Poet’s Prize.

Shapiro, Joan. Coloring Book. South Windsor, CT: Blue Spruce Press, 1978. First Edition. A Near Fine softcover of this book of poems by the former NOW National Coordinator for Women in Poetry, whose poetry was praised by Richard Wilbur for its “toughness” which makes for “precision and surprise.” This copy is warmly INSCRIBED in 1982 to Kumin, “with respect and instantaneous affection.”
