[n.p.]: [n.p.], 1977. INSCRIBED on inside of folder: "To Tommy Mew Best Regards Joyce Cutler Shaw." From Mew's estate—Mew was a former Professor and Chair of the Art Department at Berry College in Rome, GA. Mew received his Ph.D. from New York University in 1966, and later became Director of FluxusWest/Southeast and Moon Gallery. He contributed to numerous mail art publications throughout his lifetime.
Proposal for a Public Art Project, a visual art statement to take place at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art in October 1980. Contains four mimeographed letters (SFMoMA, NEA, Congresswoman Clair Burgener, and United States National Commission for UNESCO), a two-page prospectus about the project, the proposal, and a nine-page set of illustrations for the installation.
Joyce Cutler Shaw (1932-2018) was a multimedia artist who exhibited internationally since 1972. Her works—public installations, drawings, and artists' books—are represented at New York's Museum of Modern Art, the Klinspor Museum in Germany, the Teylers Museum in The Netherlands, the Herbert Johnson Museum at Cornell, the Walker Art Center (see Center of Book Arts).
