Pleasants, William Leidesdorff, Henry Clay, and Deadwood Dick. Text discusses Buffalo Soldiers, Custer's Last Stand, Pony Express, John Brown's Raid, the Negro Baptist Church in Texas, Beckwourth Pass, Forty-Niners, and Black cowboys ("There were at least five thousand Black cowboys in the Old West, two Black cowboys for every six White cowboys").
