A Black-oriented crossword puzzle book (“The Black Culture Book Everybody’s Talking About”). Interestingly, the staff at the publisher Dellco write in the Acknowledgement assure readers, who might have heard that the editor Dennis DeLoach was no longer producing Soulword, that he is in fact still the creator, publisher, and editor and that it is not “just another publication owned and manipulated by whites.” Content includes puzzles, word searches, matching games, black culture historical quizzes, black actor name games, winners of the publication’s inaugural poetry contest, an article on getting jobs, and short features on Marcus Garvey and Benjamin Banneker. Includes a full-page advertisement for DeLoach’s book of poetry published two years earlier, Here Comes de Poet.
