Grio was funded in part by the city of Atlanta Bureau of Cultural Affairs (Shirley Franklin was Director). House of PRAE was a group that saw itself as “a positive force bent on systematic elevation; first we strive to elevate ourselves, next our people—Afrikan people, then and thereby the rest of humanity.”
