Promotional Broadside for Filippa Pollia Foundation Presents Langston Hughes and Arna Bontemps. Authors of Stories and Poetry on Negro Life in America and Haiti; Subject: Making Words Sing, Talk and Dance
1938. [n.d. but ca. 1938]. Approximately 8.5” x 12”. Near Fine, printed on yellow stock, with pencil alterations to dates.
Hughes and Bontemps began their lecture tour in Illinois, traveled through the Southwest, and continued on to California. The Philippa Pollia Foundation, which sponsored educational programs for children, engaged them for a series of lectures. They appeared at three high schools, the dates of which are November 30, December 1 & 2—it appears that the sequence of locations for the lectures was changed at the last minute as the dates were altered in manuscript.
