Rare 1969 Playbill SIGNED by MUHAMMAD ALI
From December 2-6, 1969 at New York City’s George Abbott Theatre, Muhammad Ali, aka Cassius Clay, starred (for 7 performances) in the Broadway musical Buck White, with music and lyrics by Oscar Brown, Jr., about a black militant who addresses a meeting organized by a black political group. This was Ali’s only Broadway acting credit—at the time, Ali was not boxing because he was appealing his conviction for not joining the armed services on religious and moral grounds.
You can watch Ali perform the song “We Came in Chains” from the musical from his January 18, 1970 performance on The Ed Sullivan Show. https://www.edsullivan.com/50-years-ago-muhammad-ali-starred-in-the-broadway-musical-buck-white/
