In the Foreword, editor Lennie Anderson notes, “We believe that this directory, the first of its kind to be published in the East Bay, will make our buying public more aware of minority entrepreneurs who find it very difficult to place their products and services before an unknowingly demanding public, also adding a stability to our economy.” Includes a blank at rear of book for other black owned or operated businesses that did not appear in this issue to send in to be a part of next printing. Advertisements ranging from Beauty Shops to Contractors, Grocers and Liquor Stores to Churches and Real Estate Brokers. Also included is a two-page photo spread of The Black Book staff, as well as photos of a number of proprietors at their business listing.
