Harley Strokers Gay Motorcycle Club Newsletters
Two (2) Newsletters—June and July 1990—for the Harley Strokers MC (headquartered in Portland, OR). Both stapled, taped, and folded for mailing (both addressed to Club member from Berkeley, CA), one printed on peach paper (8 pp.) and the other on white (10 pp.). About VG+ (some wear, and one has writing on rear).
Both newsletters are mainly concerned with the upcoming 3rd Annual Harley Strokers MC Rendezvous (“Open to all gay Harley owners & buddy riders”), which was to take place August 23-26 on LaPine State Park in Oregon, surrounded by the Deschutes National Forest and along the Deschutes River. Content includes maps, reservation form, notes and letters from members, upcoming events, and photographs of club members with their motorcycles.
Other topics and announcements include updates on Sturgis and Daytona Bike Week ‘90, discussion of Easyriders, motorcycle tips, classifieds, and cultural and political commentary: “It’s time numbnut people got it through their heads that people are born gay…Try walking in a gay-lesbian biker’s boots before you sound off!” and “Politicians like Danemayer and Helms are enemies of both bikers and gays. The epitome of Big Brother, they hate what freedom we still have.”
We found little information on the Strokers MC. Uncommon. Item #819
