Designed to give the housewife a practical place in which to keep not only her own favorite recipes but those collected from her friends. Indexed for Quick Reference. Chicago: The Reilly & Lee Co., [1937]. Handwritten note in pencil on title page reads “Back filled with recipes just before I got married from instructions from my mother 1943.” Comb bound, 4.5” x 7.25” with soiled covers. Approximately 130pp.—tabbed section dividers provide printed recipes, followed by blank pages for owner’s own recipes. Previous owner has handwritten approximately 151 of her own (or from friend and family) recipes in a legible cursive hand. Section tabs include Appetizers, Biscuits, Bread Cake, Candy, Desserts, Fish, Meats, Pickling, Preserves, Salads, Sauces, Soups, Miscellaneous. Two recipe cards inserted at rear.
