The Joe Coleman Portfolio: White Screams Meat Two

New York: Bagginer Productioners, 1977. Ten (10) unbound 8” x 11” prints, graphite on paper, one in color, also with illustrations on front cover (entitled “Atomic radiation victim”) and rear of portfolio. Contents include, “Storms,” “Suburban family, “Angus Grund 1961,” “Maison Joie,” “Rough-trade yoot,” “Disgussing the brogan,” “Shack fever,” “Sucuppers are human,” “Someplace in nowhere,” and “Edward Mumford M.D.” An additional color print and four copies of another print laid in. Toning and soiling to portfolio, although contents are VG+.

In a 2006 profile, The New York Times wrote that Brooklyn-based underground artist Coleman’s “macabre visions” and “grotesque images of murderers and victims, freaks and monsters, disease, depravity and perversities of every kind” had earned him a cult following.
