Circus Photo Album, various dates, although the majority dated 1944 (the opening leaf has a 1912 Gollmar Bros. image of circus wagon in Wisconsin and a 1957 photograph of The Great Hippodrome Circus in Miniature). 20 leaves (17 black, 1 loose), with 164 black and white photos corner-mounted on both rectos and versos (most range from 2” x 2.75” to 4” x 5.5” with a few 5” x 7”). Oblong, approximately 15.5” x 11.5” and stringbound, with blue decorative boards and “Photographs” embossed on front. Overall VG+.
Wonderful photographs from the collection of Gene Baxter, a commercial and press photographer from Troy, NY, as well as some from Eddie Jackson Circus Photos of Macon, GA, most stamped on reverse with a number along with many (colorful) handwritten descriptions. Images include performers (numerous female performers, including one of Norma Davenport, daughter of Dailey Bros. owner), circus animals, trains, carts, and wagons, crowds, circus set-up and behind-the-scenes shots, and the Big Top. The circuses represented are Dailey Bros., Cole Bros., and Clyde Beatty. A wonderfully presented WWII-era circus album. Item #316
