Issues 1-6 of the American Airlines Guest of Honor Service Advanced Training Unit Self-Development Planner, belonging to American Airlines employee Audre Courval (her name written in pencil on each issue). These training units were “aimed at enabling [you] to deliver friendly, helpful service at all times.” Laid in to the first issue is a completed “Areas of Opportunity Self Quiz.” Each issue between 10-16 pp., with Courval’s own notes and answers to prompts throughout (completed in 1961). Also included are eight pieces of ephemera, including an AA Boarding Pass and seating guide, an AA Astrojet Holidays in Mexico brochure, a 1970 AA Hawaii transportation map, a San Francisco and AA Helicopter brochure with fantastic graphics, and two AA menus (Don Roth’s Blackhawk Restaurant and The Captain’s Table). 12 Near Fine issues of The American Way (January-December 1970), an in-flight magazine that launched in 1967 with fantastic color artwork throughout. Article features include The Seventies, Orthodox Judaism, The Nashville Sound, Pearl Buck, Superman, Hemlines, California on $230 a Day, Beach Boys, Mark Twain, Court Tennis, Great Barrier Reef, Language of Politics, Robert Redford, and Hockey.
